Comments

Burl Barer

my favorite question asked of me at a book fair:
Q: Have I ever read any of your books?

Lori

Percentage-wise, what are the chances we'll meet crazy people at our AWP panel?

Tod Goldberg

Oh, very high, Lori. The crazy people show up to the genre panels to decry the death of literature. I then, typically, tell them they are fucktards who haven't been inside a bookstore in 20 years and then, well, then I go back to my booth and wait for action!

Bill Peschel

Why isn't this a television series starring Larry David?

Brenna

The last conversation is my favorite. I think I like the idea of you writing a book about decluttering, possibly by killing off the extraneous people who make life messy.

Jennifer Oberth

I love how Rob dealt with the doomsayer and how she didn't get it. I always wondered what end-of-the-world people want of you. I mean, did she want you guys to build a rocket and a space station? (Which would likely run up the credit card bills.) What was she expecting? And why is she at a book fair if she's only got a year to live?

I love the argument about the book she read and the one you wrote. "I wouldn't bet against her. She's got an excellent memory" made me laugh. You're the author but you shouldn't bet against her!!!!!

Leo

You can't make this stuff up. I have a book signing at Palm Springs' Villagefest on the 27th. I can't wait to see what happens there...thanks for the head's up Tod.

Jason Keller

So do you think this had more to do with being at a book fair, or in the desert? I used to live in Joshua Tree. I would never describe it as exciting, but it was always interesting.
