Frak
Let me just say this once and for all and then we can be done with it until, yeah, I feel the need to announce it again: Battlestar Galactica fucking rules. What's better than:
1. Fat Apollo.
2. Starbuck killing that Cylon and then finishing her dinner...because he's just coming back in an hour anyway.
3. Tigh losing a fucking eye. How many shows have a main character lose a fucking eye?
4. Dean Stockwell. (On a related note, I saw one of the worst movies ever the other night on cable -- Major League 3, starring Scott Bakula.)
5. Richard Hatch asking the President if she tried to fix the election...and then telling her he wished she'd gone through with it.
6. A 2 hour premier that was better than most of the summer movies I saw (it helps that I watched it on Tivo, I'm sure).

I couldn't agree more. Battlestar is a gem. The premier this season was daring and gritty. Fat Apollo was awesome, unexpected, and fresh. I have a fetish for that show..it's so goddamned good. The Chief's beard, Colonel's loss of eye in torture, his wife's trading her body for her husband's release (sort of), the human police with masks, Starbuck squeezing the hand of her Cylon baby daddy at the end....it's a masterpiece of a show.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer had a main character (Xander) lose an eye. Granted, it WAS in the last season, when they knew it wasnt coming back, but still...you DID say name one...

Another one to lose and eye during the course of the series: Andreas Katsulas as G'Kar in "Babylon 5." All he had to do is simply stop wearing the red contact lens in that eye for subsequent episodes.

A character's eye exploded on-camera on the medical drama House, M.D. I saw the re-run over the summer which got me hooked on the series. For good TV, you can't beat Fox!
